classes and concerts and beer, oh my

so, my frist weekend "in school" was pretty eventful. went out with some friends on thursday. my new buddy casey is definitely helping me adjust. he's crazy enough to hang out with me when i don't know what to do with myself. friday was a school social and then the students' play. we ended up going out after. (read - too much cheap beer!) saturday was the ICOlympics. each of the 4 classes competed. my class was totally in the lead, but due to some faulty scoring and some accidental bad sportmanship we came in 2nd. it was still a lot of fun. saturday night i got to go to pancho pistola's - my new favorite mexican restaurant. it was fabulous. we went to another house party on sat night (again - too much cheap beer).

and then on sunday...

another new buddy, natalka, and i decided to try to get tickets for the jack johnson show at northerly island. we went down to the marina and walked around until we found someone willing to sell us 2 tickets for $80. we finally got in, got our "concert gear" and made our way to the GA seating area. about 20 min later, matt costa came on. he's totally fun. great first set. ALO was next. kind of jammy (sorry carol), but great fun. they have a song "about ah-nold" called "do you like my pecs?" jack johnson came out and did a song with them before their set ended. so cool. then when his set started, the keyboardist from ALO came out and played piano. he called up ALO's guitarist for 3 or 4 songs. then matt costa came back and jack & matt did and acoustic beatles song. fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! so the icing...wait for it...

during his encore, jack played 3 songs accoustic and then said: "i usually play this song during my sets. tonight, i'd like to bring out the man who wrote it." enter JIMMY BUFFET. ok, never been a parrot head, but holy crap! that was awesome. they played "a pirate looks at 40" as a duet.

and that was fun as crap weekend!
